Where I Belong

Ever since I can remember, my soul has always loved a fantasy. This fantasy transports me to faraway places wherein they feel not just like home, but heaven as well. I can be my true self in this fantasy and leave my pretend self in my reality.

I love what Michelle Karam recently wrote about the beauty of travel: “Why do my journeys take me further from where I come from and closer to where I belong?” When I close my eyes and look into my soul, I feel:

I belong in a library among countless tales of dreamers, lovers, and adventurers.

I belong in a garden, writing among resplendent flowers, serene lakes, and birds singing under weeping willow trees.

I belong on top of a majestic mountain among winding trails, creamy clouds, and shooting stars.

I belong on the back of my unicorn, galloping among a field of forget-me-nots, and escaping this crazy world.

I belong on a dancing swing under the misty rain where no one can differentiate between my tears or the raindrops.

And I belong in a heart that loves me forever, not locks me out in the cold.

Where is your true home?
